Abstract | The article analyses complex sentences shaped as disjunctive questions. In Bulgarian the syntactic links are marked by the disjunctive conjunctions ли ... или, дали ... или and in Norwegian by coordinating conjunction eller and subject-verb inversion in the first clause. In both languages the second predicate, after или, respectively eller. is ellipted. The resulting syntactic structures function as disjunctive questions, some of them neutral as to the expected answer, while others are subjectively marked and show the attitude of the speaker towards the expressed content or the expected answer. |
