Abstract | The paper explores the current use of certain derivational formants in feminine gender nouns (of the type професорка/profesorka, лекарка/lekarka) in some Slavonic languages: Bulgarian, Russian, Polish, Slovak, Czech, Slovene and Serbo-Croatian. The highest frequency of this derivational pattern was found in Czech, Slovak, Slovene and partly in Serbo-Croatian. In Russian, on the other hand, the pattern is only colloquial. Bulgarian and Polish are borderline cases. The reasons for the difference in the range of the phenomenon are of an internal-systematic nature and could be clarified in a more thorough investigation. |
